Bruxelles

After a long time in Sweden.. and after the cold winter with loads and loads of snow.. I am in Brussels. Its a nice city, better than Lund and Malmo.

Finding a place to live in Europe till now has been a headache, and finding one here was not really easy. Even though a lot of webpages help people find a place to live, many scammers trying to make easy money are a pain in the ass. But finally, facebook helped.. found a place through a friend who used to live in brussels.

The accommodation is more expensive than the salary i used to get in my first job. But its a nice city.

So after finishing the master thesis, which took like forever after we had done the actual work and written a report in MS-Word, the professor asks us to make it in some a5 paper format.. which not only took me another week.. thanks to LateX but he gives us shit for so many things. The guy who I was supposed to oppose, postpones his thesis ppt and after all the bull shit waiting finally I come to brussels the 2nd time.

Its a nice city, and we live near the parliament. Its a huge building the EU parliament. There are even two slabs from the berlin wall in front of it, which i had not noticed until yesterday when a friend told us about them. I will take a picture with JFK who is on the wall soon.

I have been trying to find employment in Europe in order to continue enjoying the life I have had here, but to no avail. The recession.. dammit.. So I have finally started to look for a job in India. Which I hope wont be too difficult.

ok so about brussels, the airport is very well connected to the city, the bus is cheaper than in munich and the airport is not so far also. Freeloading on the metro has become a habit, even though i am worried constantly that someone will ask me for the ticket. Maja tells me i am a pussy, well when you look like me, and dont have a passport all the time, and when you are in Europe, you have reasons to be worried.. valid ones.

The city is old, as all cities in europe, the cathedral in the centre is really nice, with so many restaurants close by. There was this alley with just places of sea food..
There is another old church which I could see on the horizon, which i tried to reach by walking the first time I came here, but the map that the hostel lady gave us had only the city center in it and I got lost very soon. But i have passed by the church and plan to visit it again very soon to spend some more time. I really dont know the names of the churches and the squares and all but they are all very nice. Brussels is not as clean as Lund or even Malmo, and the people dont really speak english, no other country is as fluent in english on the mainland as Sweden i think.
The temperatures are about 6 degrees higher than sweden and one can easily make out that its warmer, but the weather sucks.. rainy and windy....

After a long wait for the money from the company where we worked on our thesis, we finally got it and I plan to make good use of it, spending it all on booz and travel. Will go see bruges soon, maybe tomorrow.. will try and visit paris and lyon.

There are plans of visiting Beograd also.. if I get the visa.. that trip i think will be fun. Budapest will be on the way to Beograd hopefully.

The tickets back home cost a lot on all the airlines, except turkish airlines.. have to make sure if i need a transit visa or not..

The internet is a shared on in the apartment and for some weird reason, the belgian ISPs have a limit on the amount of download just like in India. Since there are a lot of students here and i came here in the middle of the month, the quota was over.. so its fucking slow and irritating. Can't do a thing the whole day.. playing aoe was the favorite time pass before I came here.. hopefully the net will get better next month.

boring post eh.. need to find a job man.. crap. the bank guys will be all over me once i go back..

peace
