J.E

'No Sir, finish it now; I pity you - I do pity you.'

'Pity, Jane, from some people is a noxious and insulting sort of tribute, which one is justified in hurling back at the teeth of those who offer it; but that is a sort of pity native to callous, selfish hearts; it is a hybrid, egotistical pain at hearing of woes, crossed with ignorant contempt for those who have endured them. But that is not your pity, Jane; it is not the feeling of which your whole face is full at this moment - with which your eyes are almost overflowing - with which your heart is heaving - with which your hand is trembling in mine. Your pity, my darling, is the suffering mother of love: its anguish is the very natal pang of the diving passion. I accept it, Jane; let the daughter have free advent - my arms wait to receive her.'

his third and hopefully final one

Setup: One guy, living alone. comes to work like everyday. Does some work. has lunch. returns to desk. He remembers that he has forgotten his mobile phone and that he should get it now. plans to go home and come back within half an hour. home=6.2km away

Sees a forward, about guys doing stunts on pulsar. thinks his bike can also do atleast a part of it.

starts home. some sideroad in jayanagar. suddenly he feels he should go faster. he accelerates. he sees a white maruti 800 with a blinking left turn side light coming towards him. He hopes that guy will complete the turn and go into side-road's side road. damn. he doesn't. the car stalls. this guy has about 2 seconds to react. puts his front brake. he had the disc changes just 2 weeks ago. .. 1 second.. can't help it. bike won't stop. it WILL skid. he is like "Oh shit". then in another second... Wham!! his helmet hits the front bumber. the bike is somewhere on the right. just before he fell down, he knew what was coming. bracing himself for the pain. guys come running from everywhere. the guy in the car gets out. nice decent guy, doesn't scream right away. he is afraid that the guy on the bike is fucked.

2 seconds...

he is on the road. he has his helmet still on. legs are shaking. he was looking at tree tops but he can't remember any tree tops. he sees people coming into view.

they: remove his helmet, remove his helmet.

he: wtf!! looks at his arms, left.. ok, right.. ok.

he looks at his legs.. both seem to be ok.

he takes a look around, manages to sit up.

by this time all aunties from sorrounding buildings have come out and are standing watching wtf is happening. one thatha explains... " eee hudgrige gaadi ondidre saaku"... or some shit like that.

he tries to get up.... people say.. don't get up.. sit breathe.. remove ur helmet.

he is sweating.. he removes his helmet.

he looks around.. wtf is his bike?

he: where is my bike..

someone: its there.. don't worry... its all right

someone else: drink this water...

he: beda...

car driver is looking at him amazed... --- how the fuck is he still sitting and talking..

he --- how the fuck did i survive that with not even scratch visible.

people around : very lucky.. very lucky

he: i thought you would take a turn.

car driver: "says something"

people: "esht joragi banda nodidra"

car driver: thats why i stopped

he gets up. tries to see if there is any more damage. Rs1800 pant.. torn left knee.. looks like a medium scratch. right knee, some pain.

he sees his bike. not much damage, but is shown the place from where it was got to where it stood now.

he wants to leave the place and go to his PG and get his fucking mobile.

he puts on helmet

people: take some rest.

he : :-

gets on his bike, still in 5th gear. shifts down to 1st.

starts. goes near car. apologizes to car driver. drives away.

on road:

he: wtf were u thinking asshole

he:what else will you get if u drive like a fucking bastard.

he:fuck you.. blah blah blah

he reaches home. cleans up his wounds.

fuck! the legs are hurting like hell. searches for saframycin. can't find it. lies down.

gets to his fucking mobile in the end.

sends messages to some people.

he feels better.. that he told some people.

he takes rest, thinks about "what will i do for food tonight"

calls his supervisor in office. tells her he got into an accident and that he will be a little late.

he manages to climb down two flights of stairs, major pain in legs.

asks someone to start his bike, gets on it.

hopes that all signals will be green for his on his way back to office.

first signal... green -> yellow, he passes.. second gear.

can't shift gears... left leg hurts.

he moves in second gear. but has to stop in one major signal, not for long. reaches office.

gets some spray, sprays... feels better.

he emails his friends saying he will need their help, feels good when people call to ask wtf happened.

he has decided to sell his bike and buy a bicycle.

hopes to take a cab back to his friends place and hopes to recover in 2 days.

now he remembers that the maruti 800 was on the wrong side... thank god!

but wait a minute, he doesn't believe in god.

Radio City II

Just a few days after complaining about radio city, i am back to complain more.
Vasanthi Hapiprakash has left radio city forever. A Miss V messaged me and told me that she was leaving on friday night last week and that Saturday morning's show was her last show.
I still feel somewhat sore in my heart whenever i think about Vasanthi.
Its not only me, the number of fans that called in to ask her not to go, and some to wish her "all the best" for her future, and the ones that dropped into the radio city studio on saturday morning were more than just sad.
Some people were crying when on Radio, live. I felt just as bad as them when i was listeneing to her that morning. It was a numb pain. Its like losing someone you really love. The pain stays there for sometime and whenever one thinks about that voice, all the old feelings come back.
I felt very depressed that morining, i wish that she would come back to the morning show, So do her thousands of fans in and around Bangalore.
I can't really put into words the pain that it has caused to so many people, when they heard her say its her last show and listened to her speak on Saturday morning. She was THE BEST. she wished and thanked all the people of Karnataka for the support that they have given her and all that, and i am sure that it was fully deserved. Her last word was "Namaskara".

Some people might say all this is just "bull" and that no one can have been attached so much to some RJ who hosts some show. But its not really like that. There are thousands of people who have felt what i did, and who all wish her "the very best for her future".
I don't know what else to say other than that i was somewhat fortunate to have been in Bangalore and having heard someone like her for the past one-one and a half year.
you can find out more about her here.

I will miss her a lot.

Silver lining: she said we might get to not only hear her, but also see her in the Future..

Sweeney Todd and others

Sweeney Todd: The demon barber of fleet street is one sweet barber. The only complaint that i have is against the censor board for cutting all the scenes in which he uses "His friends" who complete his "arm" to slit his beloved customers.
This movie was the first musical that i saw, and i can say that it is one of the best movies that i have ever seen. sadly my blood thirst was not fully quenched.
"There is a hole in the world like a big black pit" was simply too good.
should download movie and watch again.. uncut version.
Other than this i also saw one useless movie called "Jumper" totally useless.. people were comparing it to The Bourne series with special extra effects etc.. etc.. but its no way near those movies.
Jodha-Akbar, was a good movie. Many said its too boring and drags on and on and on.. but it didn't seem so bad, maybe because i watched it over a time period of six hours. The director has honestly tried to get the splendour of Troy and such other movies, but it doesn't really look real.
Akbar is tall and handsome but not really built like Achilles.
There are many more movies to watch and no time, i wish i had a laptop so that i could watch all the one's i have missed, one everyday.
I also happened to read some books recently. Latest was "Emma". It was a nice book. What could be expected from an author like Jane Austen. This book was different from the others, i think a little better.
I generally have this opinion about Ernest Hemingway that his books are not really as good as everyone who has read his work make it out to be. All this is based on the idea that short stories are not really that good to read as normal stories, maybe i don't understand the hidden meanings or whatever, and i have already commented on "A farewell to Arms".
But i read a short story recently, one of his best stories, "The old man and the sea". It was a good book. Maybe i should read more of his books... anyway that book is worth every rupee that i paid for it.
I also happened to read some books by PG Wodehouse. He is also a good author. The stories are really very witty. Need to find one particular book which i have been trying to get from a long long time.....
I am including labels from this post.
